Is your DB9 serial connection protected? If not, your equipment is vulnerable to damage and performance problems. Surges and line noise don’t just affect the power line; they can enter your equipment on any connection. So protect your DB9 serial equipment with the DataShield™ DB9 In-Line Surge Suppressor. It’s the ideal choice for protecting PCs, printers, modems and anything with a DB9 connection.

  • Complete serial port (DB9) surge protection
  • Protects against the effects of electrostatic discharge

This DB9 offers dataline surge suppression for DB9 serial ports of data terminal and data communications equipment, including PCs, printers, modems and more. User-configurable for use with male or female captive DB9 ports. Offers protection on all nine lines, plus D shell chassis. Convenient DB9 input and output connects directly to the protected port, obtaining a ground outlet from the computer chassis. Surge suppression is handled with balanced arrays of high-speed avalanche diodes that divert excess energies created by electrostatic discharges away from network interface connections. Network surge suppressors reduce blown interface cards, garbled transmissions, system lock-ups and hard equipment failure by safely shunting dataline surges to ground.

  • DB9 protects 9 pin serial connections for dataline surge suppression of data terminal, data communications equipment and PCs, printers, modems and more
  • Reversible for use with male or female captive DB9 ports
  • Offers protection on all 9 data lines, plus D shell chassis
  • Surge suppression utilizing high speed avalanche diodes divert excess energies on the network to ground

Questions & Answers

A surge protector will protect your electronics by acting as an “electrical sponge” by clamping down on spikes, “soaking them up” and converting the excess energy into heat, thus preventing the spikes from passing through the surge protector into the sensitive electronic devices and damaging them. As with any “sponge” a surge protector has a limited absorption capacity. Once that capacity is reached, the unit is no longer able to protect and must be replaced.
