John C. Burroughs Elementary School is a Chicago Public School serving approximately 500 students on the city's southwest side. The school's mission is to provide its students with a rich, holistic educational experience, leading them to become successful, independent and critical thinkers. Burroughs provides an academically rigorous and socially enriching environment where students are engaged through active and authentic learning.

Illinois State Senator Antonio Muñoz joins Principal Richard Morris, along with Burroughs students and teachers as they prepare to place new Chromebooks in the Eaton Charging Cart.
Challenge
While neighborhood kids played during the school's weekend open gym hours, a thief slipped into a fourth-grade classroom and made off with 30 iPads used by students for learning.
Monday morning, teacher Maribel Herrera arrived at the school and discovered the tablets were missing. Herrera – and her students – were devastated by the loss. Budget cuts from the state of Illinois and the Chicago Public School System meant it would be difficult to buy new iPads. Burroughs administrators looked to the following school year to fund replacements.
When the new academic year and a new budget arrived, the school was able to procure enough Chromebooks to equip three classrooms. Meanwhile, administrators needed to find a solution to ensure the new Chromebooks would never meet the same fate as the pilfered iPads.
The Eaton Charging Carts are a great new addition to our classroom technology. Not only will the Chromebooks be protected from future theft, the carts give us flexibility for use and storage of the devices that we didn't have before.

Burroughs School acquired three of Eaton's AC charging carts. The new Chromebooks were recently delivered to the school and unveiled to the eager students. When not in use, the devices are stored and charged securely in the carts. And because the carts have smooth-rolling casters, it's easy to move devices between classrooms as needed. Principal Richard Morris is grateful Burroughs was able to acquire Chromebooks for the new school year and said the students are happy to have technology to help them learn at their fingertips again. "The students are thrilled to have the Chromebooks. This is the way kids learn these days. It's more natural for them," Morris noted. "And thanks to the Eaton carts, they will have technology in their hands for years to come."

The new Charging Carts help students keep their Chromebooks organized at the end of the school day.
