Sustainability Policy

Eaton maintains a policy of social responsibility. In all that we do we endeavor to make decisions in the pursuit of our business that include respect for our employees, our neighbors, the environment and the world in which we live.

Our policy of business ethics compels us to operate in an environmentally friendly manner, acknowledging our responsibility to be good citizens of the earth. As we strive for operational efficiency so do we aim to utilize our natural resources efficiently and responsibly. This approach allows us to reduce all forms of waste, including manpower as well as materials. In fully embracing this approach it becomes evident that there is no one static set of actions that accomplish our goal of sustainability. Rather, pursuing a policy of environmental responsibility requires a vigilant awareness of changing needs and practices and developing new ways to address these needs as necessary. It is our belief that by maintaining this fluid method we will continue to deliver ongoing benefits to our suppliers, our workforce, our customers and the global community at large.

As part but not all of the activities in pursuit of our Sustainability Policy we include the following:
  • Reduce the impact of our packaging by utilizing recyclable materials wherever practical
  • Identify to the user any applicable portion of our packaging as recyclable
  • Pursuing "green" compliance on specific product categories as well as being a part of a larger "green" initiative
  • Identify and minimize any potential environmental impact of our products as well as our internal processes
  • Endeavor to use natural resources efficiently and conservatively
  • Actively recycle aluminum, glass, scrap metals, wood, plastic, lead-acid batteries and paper products at our corporate facilities
  • Manufacture our products in compliance with the RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) and WEEE (Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment) directives, as well as ISO14001
  • Commit to printing only those documents as necessary and aiming for a future "paperless" office
  • Donation of certain classes of product deemed obsolescent to schools or charitable organizations rather than scrapping them
  • Review both our objectives and our progress towards achieving them regularly
