Overview
The TLP1208TELTV offers economical AC surge suppression for protection of workstations, PCs, telecom systems, home electronics and other sensitive equipment. The TLP1208TLTV features 12 outlets, an 8-foot (2.4-meter) cord with a space-saving right-angle plug, and diagnostic LEDs to warn of suppressor damage. The unit has a surge suppression rating of 2880 joules to shield equipment from line noise and the strongest surges. Built-in RJ11 jacks prevent surges from damaging your modem/fax/phone equipment. Built-in digital 2.2 GHz coax jacks prevent surges from damaging your cable/satellite equipment.

Questions & Answers
A surge protector will protect your electronics by acting as an “electrical sponge” by clamping down on spikes, “soaking them up” and converting the excess energy into heat, thus preventing the spikes from passing through the surge protector into the sensitive electronic devices and damaging them. As with any “sponge” a surge protector has a limited absorption capacity. Once that capacity is reached, the unit is no longer able to protect and must be replaced.

When a surge protector has been compromised (due to a single event like a lightning strike or over a series of spikes and surges), many surge protectors will use an audible or LED alert only. If these alerts are missed, your equipment will receive unprotected power without your knowledge. When a surge protector with automatic shutoff has its protection compromised, it will prevent power from reaching connected equipment entirely. This both protects the equipment and provides a timely and clear indicator that a new surge protector is needed.
